Structures and spaces sensitive to
context must yet be efficient to run. To effect this
balance it isn't enough to believe in
sustainability: sustainability must be consummately
understood. It requires good knowledge of the issues
posed by sustainable design and commitment to their
resolution. An “eco-bling” approach to sustainable
design doesn't work. Sustainable buildings and urban
environments are the product of design teams with the
integrity and persistence to resolve the many issues
through fabric and landscape before resorting to the deus
ex machina of renewable technology equipment.
